Children’s height growth

Height is an indicator of children’s health status. Stunting is labelled when a child under five years of age is shorter than 2 or 3 standard deviations below the WHO Child Growth Standards. Most cases are caused by lack of nutrition from the time of fetus to 2 years after birth and frequent infections caused by poor sanitation. Globally, 25% of children under the age of five are stunted especially in Africa and Asia.

Stunted children are inadequate intellectual ability due to poor brain development and become prone to chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension. In order to reduce the number of stunted children, prevention is required and investing for prevention of stunting is the most cost-effective health care project.

It is not enough to supply stunted children with nutrients. NEUMED’s ‘growth stimulating material’ developed by iMED will show a new way.

We have the technology to scientifically validate growth-stimulating effects using our originally developed bone growth rate measurement method and micro-CT. Through this technology, we have developed the first approved ingredients of children’s height growth.

We believe that this amazing material, NEUMED’s ongoing research and sponsorship programs will solve the stunted growth in developing countries.
